Two settings under Settings → Customisations control how long what you send stays reachable.
- Correspondence expiry sets how long the secure link works for recipients without a Mediref account — other practices and patients. Click 90 days (default), 180 days, or 365 days. It applies from now on; anything already sent keeps the time it was given. Correspondence to another Mediref practice lands in their Inbox and doesn’t expire.
- Automatic deletion, further down, deletes the files attached to correspondence you sent more than a year ago. The record is kept — who it went to, when, and whether it was opened. Only the files go, so check the copy that counts is already filed in your practice software before turning it on.
- Files removed that way show Automatically deleted with the date. A file someone removed by hand shows Deleted.
